THE SANDOTA EDUCATION CENTRE
The children of the Sandota School need your help! To attend school in Africa a family must pay a school fee and the child must own and wear a uniform. The conditions in Africa are very poor and many of the children’s families cannot afford to provide this. Water is very hard to get in this area because of the drought and is like gold to them. The water is cut off most of the time so any that is needed must be purchased.
This school is full of children that cannot pay the school fees and most do not have uniforms. It also consists of many orphans that have nowhere else to go so they end up on the doorstep of this school. The woman who runs the school, Carolyn, cannot turn these orphans away. She knows that this is their only meal each day and the school keeps them off of the streets. She knows that this is also true for the children that cannot pay their school fees.
The school has eight teachers that have not been paid in months. There are about 200 children whose ages range from two to twelve years old. She has very little food and the children only get small portions each day.
She has very little support for the school. She receives some fees from the families that are able to provide them. Carolyn’s husband works for the Kenya Electric Company and helps out as much as possible. The farmers in the area were donating some of their crops but the drought has hit them so hard that they are struggling to provide for their own families and can no longer contribute.
Carolyn and her family are personally having a very hard time. She has a daughter that has had several strokes and is learning to walk, talk, and feed herself again. She needs constant care and their medical bills are very high. She has already lost two children, one at the age of two and one at fifteen. So even in their financial struggle they are helping provide for these children.
Marc Webb and Jenni Thompson who are members of the Sycamore Tree spent two months this past summer in Kenya. They spent time teaching and ministering to children in various schools and their hearts became broken for Carolyn and the children at Sandota. Thanks to their obedience to God we now know of this great need. They said that although Carolyn and the children’s circumstances are terrible somehow they seem to be filled with hope and are happy for the most part. Carolyn said that sometimes she feels like giving up but somehow God keeps picking her up and giving her strength to keep going and providing in small amounts.
The good news is that we have already raised enough to purchase a piece of land.

Construction has begun and we are now seeking donations to finish the new school building.
So please consider giving to these children. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
